What Is Reiki?

Reiki combines two Japanese words: "rei" (God’s Wisdom or Higher Power) and "ki" (life force energy). It is a simple, safe spiritual healing and self-improvement method, not a replacement for medical treatment.

I watched a movie about a family’s anxiety over their mother’s surgery, which reminded me of a friend’s hospital stay and her Reiki treatment the night before her surgery. As I watched my friend’s body during her Reiki treatment, I was amazed to see how quickly her body relaxed. It was as if someone had taken a body-sized squeegee and run it down the whole length of her body, from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. The stress just appeared to melt away.

Reiki is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing by raising energy levels. It is effective in helping with virtually every known illness and works alongside other medical treatments to relieve side effects and aid recovery. Administered by laying hands on the body, Reiki allows muscles to relax, improving blood flow and speeding up the healing process.

It is used in over 800 hospitals nationwide and creates beneficial effects, including relaxation, peace, security, and well-being. It treats the whole person—body, emotions, mind, and spirit—allowing wonderful energy to flow through and around you.

In my own practice as a Reiki Master, I've witnessed countless individuals benefit from this powerful healing art. Whether dealing with chronic pain, emotional distress, or recovery from surgery, Reiki has provided relief and supported their journey toward holistic health. It’s not just a treatment but a path to deeper self-awareness and balance.
